Crimbus Outside Hotel Adequate Boston

13.19

Crimbus Outside Hotel Adequate, Boston.

A day off in Boston.

When I choose to be on the Crimbus in preference to an hotel room, what might this say about the welcoming nature of the hotel? The change of hotel ownership has been reflected in the spirit of the hotel. Fascinating.

Good calls to TLev, who lives in Kingston where we are playing tomorrow; David at DGM HQ; and the much missed Little Luvvie.

The question I am pondering: what happens in a music industry where the standard for recorded music is free? Creative moves are in the air. Out here on the road it's difficult to do much more than register the movement, and consider my position.

Last night's show in Boston:

Wednesday 12th. November:

Living Colour were, once again, superb. Their sound was strong and focused & I was able to hear more detail of their playing than usual.

KC: a standing venue. Ade had problems with the sound again. From where Ade stands onstage he heard more RF than himself. Greg figured this out afterwards, but during the show it was difficult for Ade. The fingernail of my little left-hand finger has lifted slightly & the skin by the nail on the second finger has split. This made for uncomfortable playing.

A generous & supportive audience. The performance was much better & more satisfying than the last visit to Boston, which left me as unhappy as Ade was tonight.

Montreal left me glum, although I am getting better at letting go of the despair that accompanies a sense of failing to honour the calling. But it's not until the next good show that my spirits recover.

23.09 A day, re-packing, gentling, browsing DVDs and, this evening, practising.
